Unifix will penetrate the porous structure of soil and sand to fix them, moist or not. The surface of the impression will be sealed and impenetrable for the plaster after preparation with Unifix.

For the casting of footwear impressions in snow with plaster of Paris, a special aerosol fixative is used: Snowprint Wax. As the name suggest, it covers the surface of the impression with a thin layer of a brown-colored waxy material. After this has dried, the plaster of Paris is poured into the impression. The color of the wax also enhances contrast for photograhy.
