The Dust Mark Lifting Kit (DLK) contains equipment and materials for the electrostatic lifting of footwear impressions.
By charging the aluminized side of the black plastic lifing film with a high voltage, the footwear impression is transferred to the film.
For the electrostatic charging of the film a probe or a corona unit can be used.

Because the shoeprint is lifted onto a uniform black surface, the impression is much more visible and can be photographed better and more easily than before lifting.

The film with the lifted print is best transported and stored after taping it to the bottom of a clean, shallow cardboard box (for example, a box that photograhic paper comes in). Never use a box constructed of gray uncoated cardboard, as this is very dusty.

Lifting can be done not only from hard floors, but also from textile, newspaper, corrugated carton, etc.
After a footwear impression has been lifted with the DLK, it can subsequently be lifted with a black gelatin lifter. Often, this gives a better (cleaner) lift than if the DLK had not been used.
Because the DLK lifts only a part of the dust, enough material remains for a lift with a gelatin lifter.
